Refund & Right of Withdrawal Policy

Quick Summary

Under EU and Dutch consumer law, you have 14 days to cancel your vignette. If your e-vinjeta hasn’t been activated yet, we’ll refund you in full. However, once it’s active and the validity period has started, we can’t refund it. At that point, the service is complete, and Slovenia’s DARS system won’t let us undo it. The details below explain how this works and why.

1. Who does this apply to?

This policy is for consumers—people buying an e-vinjeta for personal travel. In legal terms, that’s anyone acting outside their trade, business, craft or profession, as defined by EU Directive 2011/83/EU and Article 6:230g of the Dutch Civil Code (Burgerlijk Wetboek).

If you’re buying for a company, a fleet, or a haulage operation, it’s our General Terms and Conditions that apply to you, not this page.

2. What we actually do

Vignetteslovenia.si buys and registers Slovenian e-vinjetas on your behalf. We’re not DARS, and we’re not affiliated with them. The official Slovenian portal is evinjeta.dars.si. We offer drivers a smoother purchase experience by providing support in 22 languages, 20+ payment methods, multi-currency support, and a real customer service team that answers your questions in under 10 minutes. When you order with us, you pay the official DARS vignette price and our service fee. Both are shown separately at checkout. The service fee pays for the multilingual support we provide, the fine guarantee if we make a registration mistake, and the technical work of submitting your licence plate to the DARS system.

3. Your 14-day right to change your mind

Under EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU) and its Dutch implementation (Articles 6:230o–230z of the Civil Code), you can withdraw from this contract within 14 days of placing your order without providing a reason.

3.1 When the 14 days start

The clock starts the day you complete your order and receive the confirmation email.

3.2 When you lose the right to withdraw

There's one important catch, and it's worth reading carefully.

A Slovenian e-vinjeta is a digital service. Once it's activated in the DARS database and the validity period has started, the service has been fully performed. At that point, your right of withdrawal is gone.

By clicking through checkout, you're agreeing to two things: that we can start registering your vignette immediately rather than waiting 14 days, and that you understand your withdrawal right is lost as soon as the service is complete. This isn’t us making up rules; it's written into Article 16(a) of the EU Directive and Article 6:230p(1)(d) of the Dutch Civil Code, which specifically exclude fully-performed digital services from the standard cooling-off protection.

In plainer terms: if you order a vignette with a start date of today and it goes live, that’s it. If you order one with a start date in two weeks and change your mind before then, you still have the right to withdraw.

4. How to tell us you want to withdraw

Let us know that you want to withdraw clearly and in writing. There are two ways to do this:

As long as your message reaches us before the 14 days are up, you’re fine.

To speed things up on our end, include:

  • Your full name
  • Your order number or confirmation number
  • The licence plate number associated with the vignette
  • The date of your order
  • A clear statement that you wish to withdraw from the contract

5. What happens after you withdraw?

If you withdraw within the 14 days and your vignette hasn’t gone live yet, we refund everything, including the DARS vignette price and our service fee.

We’re legally required to process the refund within 14 days of receiving your withdrawal notice, but in practice, it’s much faster than that. Most refunds are completed in 5 to 7 business days. How long it takes mostly depends on which payment method you used. PayPal refunds usually process within 24 hours on our side, while Mollie refunds (cards, iDEAL, Bancontact and the rest) typically take about 2 business days. We refund to the same payment method you used to pay, unless you expressly instruct us not to. You don’t pay any fees for withdrawing from the contract.

6. A quick word about chargebacks

If something has gone wrong, please reach out to us first. Chargebacks through your bank feel like the fastest solution, but they’re usually slower than our support team, and they trigger dispute fees from payment providers that we then have to absorb.

We respond to questions in under 10 minutes on average. Almost everything gets sorted that way. If you do file a chargeback without contacting us first and it turns out there was no valid legal basis for it, your payment provider may charge us dispute fees, and we reserve the right to recover them. We don’t set those fees, and we don’t mark them up.

7. Sample Withdrawal Form

You don't need to use this form — an email works just as well. But if you'd prefer a template, here it is.

8. Which law applies, and where to go if we can’t sort it out

This policy is governed by Dutch law. That said, if you live in another EU country, you keep any mandatory consumer protections your own national law gives you — Dutch law can’t override those.

If we can’t resolve something between us, a few external routes are open to you. The European Commission runs an Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr, designed exactly for cross-border consumer disputes like this one. You can also go to the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (Autoriteit Consument & Markt, ACM), or to the European Consumer Centre in your own country, both of which provide independent guidance for free.

We'd much rather hear from you directly first — most things are fixable within a day.
