Buy your official Slovenia vignette online in just a few clicks—no stickers, no hassle.

100,000+ official vignettes sold

QUICK OVERVIEW

Completing your e-vinjeta registration takes less than two minutes. The process is simple:

Choose your vignette

Select your vehicle type, validity period, and start date.

Enter your details

Add your licence plate number and email address.

Review and pay

Confirm everything looks correct and complete your payment.

That’s it. No printing. No waiting.

Since 2022, Slovenia’s e-vinjeta system has been fully digital (introduced 1 December 2021 and fully phased out on 1 February 2022 when the last "old yearly" physical sticker ran out). Instead of a windscreen sticker, your licence plate is registered in the official DARS database and checked automatically by roadside cameras on every toll road.

Within minutes of purchase, your vignette is active in the DARS system. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your PDF, and after that, you’re ready to drive on any Slovenian motorway.

The 3-Step Process

Step 01

Choose Your Vignette

Start by selecting the validity period that best suits your trip. You can activate your vignette immediately for same-day travel or set a future start date if you’re planning ahead. The shortest option available is a 7-day vignette. Slovenia doesn’t offer a 1-day vignette.

The validity options available depend on your vehicle category:

Cars and taller vehicles (Categories 2A and 2B): 7 days, 1 month, or 1 year.
Motorcycles (Category 1): 7 days, 6 months, or 1 year. There is no monthly option for motorcycles.

Tip for motorcycle riders: make sure you select the motorcycle category. A separate, lower-rate e-vinjeta is available for your vehicle. This is the most common mistake we see from motorcycle riders, so it’s worth double-checking before you pay.

Double-check Your Details

Entering the correct license plate and country is critical. The system cannot be modified once registration is completed.

Step 02

Enter Your Details

To register your e-vinjeta correctly, you’ll need to provide your licence plate number, the country where your vehicle is registered, your vehicle category, and your desired start date.

Licence Plate & Vehicle Category

We support all licence plate formats, whether EU or non-EU. Just enter your plate exactly as it appears on the vehicle, including any country prefix. If you’re driving in from Serbia, Ukraine, Turkey, or another non-EU country, your plate works fine in the DARS system.

Email Double-Verification

You’ll need to enter your email address twice to catch any typos. Copy and paste isn’t available for the second entry. Your e-vignette confirmation and PDF will be sent to that address immediately after purchase.

Check everything carefully

Your licence plate number and vehicle category must be entered correctly, so take a moment to double-check everything. DARS cameras along every toll road scan your plate automatically. If your plate is wrong by even one character, the system sees you as unregistered and issues the standard fine (usually around €300), even though you paid for a vignette. Corrections are usually possible before your e-vinjeta activates, but once it’s active, your options are limited. It’s worth taking a few extra seconds before you pay to check. We’ve also heard reports of drivers being stopped by traffic police due to vignette mistakes.

Step 03

Review & Pay

Before you pay, you’ll see a full summary of your order. Take a moment to check: vignette type, start date, licence plate number, vehicle category, and email address.

Next, choose your preferred payment method. We support 20+ options, including credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Revolut, iDEAL, BLIK, Przelewy24, Bancontact, MyBank, Satispay and more.

Accepted methods include:

Service Summary Official Registration
Validity: 10 Days
Plate: B-AB-1234
Total: €14.90

After You Pay

Confirmation

Immediate visual confirmation on our portal after successful payment.

Instant Email

The system automatically dispatches your PDF certificate within 60 seconds.

PDF on Phone

Save the PDF to your phone. Digital display is fully legal in the Slovenian Republic.

Once your payment goes through, you’ll see a confirmation screen. Within minutes, your Slovenian e-vignette is registered in the DARS national database, and a confirmation email with your PDF arrives in your inbox. This PDF is your proof of purchase.

There’s nothing to display or carry. DARS overhead camera gantries on every Slovenian motorway and expressway read your licence plate automatically. We saw these gantries in person during our April 2026 field research. The cameras are mounted on overhead structures across the A1, A2, A3 and A5 motorways, including at every border approach, and they work around the clock. Keeping the PDF on your phone is a useful backup, but it’s not a requirement.

How to Check Your Vignette Is Active

You can verify your e-vinjeta anytime in two ways. The first is here on vignetteslovenia.si. The second, and the one we always recommend, is the official DARS portal at evinjeta.dars.si. Enter your licence plate and country of registration, and you’ll instantly see your vignette status, type, and validity dates straight from the source.

A note from experience

During our April 2026 research trip, we drove the Karawanken tunnel between Austria and Slovenia on the A2. The toll station sits on the Austrian side, before the tunnel entrance, and costs €9 for a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes. That toll is separate from your Slovenian e-vinjeta and must be paid in cash or card at the booth. We waited about ten minutes in the queue, paid, and drove through. A short distance before the booths, we noticed a camera mounted on a low tripod on the left, pointed at the line of vehicles, and police were conducting checks along the sides of the crossing. A few kilometres in either direction, the DARS motorway network picks up, so the vignette needs to be valid the moment you enter. Our advice: buy your vignette online before you leave, and keep €9 handy for the tunnel if this is your route.

Coming in from Croatia?

During the same April 2026 trip, we crossed three of the main Croatia–Slovenia borders: Gruškovje/Macelj on the A4 corridor, Obrežje/Bregana on the A2, and Dragonja on the coastal route near Koper. None of them had queues when we passed through. As Schengen borders, the control infrastructure here is mostly dormant, but the signage before every crossing carries repeated warnings that a Slovenian vignette is required the instant you enter the country. There were no on-the-spot purchase options on the Slovenian side of these crossings. At Obrežje/Bregana, the Croatian Bregana toll station sits just over the border on the Croatian side, which is a separate toll for Croatian motorways, not covered by your Slovenian e-vinjeta. Our advice is the same here: buy your Slovenia e-vinjeta online before you cross, so your plate is already in the DARS database by the time you drive onto the motorway.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get my Slovenian e-vignette?

Your e-vinjeta is registered in the DARS system within minutes of payment, and your confirmation email with your PDF is sent immediately. For most customers, the whole process takes less than two minutes from start to finish.

Can I schedule my Slovenian vignette for a future date?

Yes. Choose your desired start date during checkout, and your e-vinjeta will activate automatically on that date. This is useful if you’re planning your trip in advance and want to lock in the price today.

What if I enter the wrong licence plate number?

Contact our support team through the Help Centre as soon as you notice the error. If your e-vinjeta is not yet activated, a full correction is usually possible. Once it’s active, however, options are more limited. The reason this matters: DARS cameras match your plate automatically, so a wrong plate number means your e-vinjeta doesn’t cover the vehicle you’re actually driving. The standard fine for driving without a valid vignette is around €300.

Do I need to print anything?

No. Slovenia’s e-vinjeta has been 100% digital since 2022 (introduced 1 December 2021 and fully phased out on 1 February 2022 when the last "old yearly" physical sticker ran out). There’s no windscreen sticker to display, no proof to print, and nothing to carry. Your licence plate is your proof of purchase, and the DARS cameras handle the rest. The PDF you receive by email is simply for your own records.

How do I know my vignette is active?

Once your confirmation email with the PDF arrives, your e-vinjeta is registered. You can also verify it independently at any time on evinjeta.dars.si by entering your licence plate number.

What vignette durations are available in Slovenia?

For cars (2A) and taller vehicles (2B): 7 days, 1 month, or 1 year. For motorcycles (Category 1): 7 days, 6 months, or 1 year. Slovenia doesn’t offer a 1-day vignette in any category. See our prices page for the full breakdown by vehicle category.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept 20+ options, including credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Revolut, iDEAL, BLIK, Przelewy24, Bancontact, MyBank, Satispay and more.
